Saddle rock Trail

The best view of the Wenatchee Valley you will ever see!

Saddle Rock Trail is a 2.3 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Wenatchee Washington that features beautiful wildflowers with a difficulty rating of moderate. I was very excited about hiking this short trail because I had heard about the magnificent views. Once at the top. I was not disappointed! As the All-Trials description says, it was a moderate climb until we arrived at the last 500 or so yards to the summit. That was more difficult but not extreme. The hike is uphill from the trailhead to the summit. The trail surface is dirt, and dusty with a few trip rocks on the trail.

The day we hiked it the temperature was about 80 degrees, so I worked up a pretty good sweat halfway into the hike. There was one area about halfway to the summit that was a bit intimidating because of the angle of the trail being horizontal and upward on the side of the hill. As I mentioned earlier the terrain was loose dirt and rocks so it gave me the feeling that if I had a bad slip I could go tumbling down the side of the hill. If you slipped and fell you could roll...and roll down the hill for about 100 feet. The hike itself is wide open, no trees at all, just open views of the Wenatchee Valley and surrounding hill-scapes. It took us about 1.5 hours to get to the summit, but once there the views were breathtaking. Elevation at the summit was around 950 ft. You could see the mighty Columbia River as it wound its way through the center of East and West Wenatchee. If you are ever in the Wenatchee area, this hike is one I would recommend.
